The Clodbuster Base Ball Clubs are dedicated to detailing the history of America's national pastime as well as educating the public on the origins of the game.

The Clodbusters showcase their talents playing base ball as it was played during the United States' Civil War.

Please take a look around to learn more about the game we love, get to know your favorite players, and find out where you can see us play during the 2010 season.

News from the wire:

July 18th - The Clodbusters finished their 9 games in 8 days barnstorming tour with a win over the North Baltimore Cyclones, 8-6, and a loss to the Manfield Independents 4-9, to finish the barnstorming tour with a record of 6-3. One rainout, one dislocated knee and plenty of muscle aches, we are battered and bruised. Thankfully a 2 week reprieve is ahead for us to heal. Our thoughts go out to Muffin Gunderson and a speedy recovery.

July 17th - The Clodbusters took a pair of games from the Whiskey Island Shamrock very near the shores of our Great Lake. We do hope the gentleman playing left field in the first match will not be scarred for life. Off to Mansfield Reformatory tomorrow for another double header before a much needed break. Get busy living, or get busy dying.

July 14th - The Clodbusters got back on the winning track tonight against the Indianapolis Blues. The Clodbusters earned a rare come-from-behind victory before 1500 cranks in Richmond and moved to 3-0 in McBride Stadium.

July 11th - The Clodbuster bats were busy against the Speigel Grove Squires, however the hits weren't enough to overcome those of the Squires. The Lady Clodbusters played a top hat match with the Lady Diamonds from Columbus. Plenty of fun was had by all.

Next Match: Tues July 13th, Richmond, IN 7PM vs. the Indy Blues.

July 10th - Next game is Sunday July 11th vs the Spiegel Grove Squires at Carillon Park. Come early and root for the Lady Clodbusters as they play at noon. The men will play 2 games shortly after the completion of the ladies match.

On Tuesday the 13th the men will travel to Richmond to take on the Indianapolis Blues in McBride Stadium. Watch a podcast discussing this game as well as some background information on vintage base ball.

July 10th - The Clodbuster bats came alive in the first inning of the first match of a double header against the Norwood Highlanders, and they never looked back. Both game balls were awarded to the Clodbusters. We would like to thank the Highlanders for the invitation, the fine display of gentlemanly behavior and the great hospitality after the match. We look forward to returning the favor in Sept.

Clodbusters barely beat Canal Jumpers

The delightful City of Fairborn invited the Clodbuster Base Ball Club and the Canal Jumpers of Tipp City to take the field of battle for a spirited match. The Canal Jumpers are a new squad but proved to be true gentlemen and excellent ballists.

The match started with the traditional introductions. Substitute Captain Chris Buckner won the toss and elected to strike second. The Canal Jumpers immediately made him regret that decision. The Jumpers scored two aces on 6 hits in the first inning and made 1 run in the second to take a 3 to 0 lead over the Clodbusters after two innings.

The Clods bats decided to make an appearance in the third inning. Mr. Buckner hit for a single base as did Rookie Luke Lindeman. Hits by Mark “Mule” Willis, Brian “Hambone” Shively and John “Cricket” Fritz lead to a 2 aces inning.

The Jumpers did not stand still. They charged ahead with 2 runs in the 5th inning off 5 hits. Unfortunately for the Jumpers, their scoring ended there.

The Clodbusters fought back the charge of the Jumpers by scoring 1 run in the 7th off hits by Mr. Sloppy, Mr. Burton. Captain Buckner and Mr. Lindeman. Finally, the Clodbusters put the final nail in the coffin of the Canalmen with 3 runs in the eighth.

Umpire Mr. John Everett called the game to a close, declared the match played by gentlemen and awarded the game ball to the Clodbusters by the score of 6 to 5.

Huzzah to Nate "Frenchie" Buckner and the Clodbusters for being named one of the Dayton Daily News' favorite pictures of 2009. Another huzzah to Ron Alvey for taking this great picture and naming it one of his favorites! Thanks Mr. Alvey and hope to see you out at the park next year!

The Clodbusters would like to thank all the fans that have come out to Deeds Carillon Historical Park this year to watch and support the team. We look forward to seeing you there again next year!
